The Student Counselling and Development Service of the Office of Student Affairs provide psychological counselling to students experiencing emotional, interpersonal or other adjustment difficulties. It also aims at enhancing students' personal growth and mental health.

Incoming Students Services

The Incoming Students Section of the Office of Student Affairs promotes cultural exchanges on campus and assists non-local students to adapt to campus life through organization of various cultural activities and provision of personal guidance by Learning Enhancement Officers (LEOs).

Student Amenities

The Student Amenities Section of the Office of Student Affairs manages student activity centres in the Benjamin Franklin Centre, John Fulton Centre and Pommerenke Student Centre to support students in their extra-curricular pursuits. It also manages the International House (I-House) which accommodate students of diverse backgrounds.

Transportation on Campus

The University operates shuttle bus and air-conditioned shuttle light bus according to bus schedule. Staff members and students can take shuttle bus free of charge. The fare of air-conditioned shuttle light bus is $5.5 per ride.

Support Services for Students with Disabilities

The Office of Student Affairs is responsible for coordinating various university support services for students with physical disability, hearing impairment, visual impairment, specific learning difficulties or other disabilities. Students with special needs are encouraged to contact the Disability Services Manager as soon as possible for assistance if necessary.

The University Health Service provides medical and dental consultation to students and organizes a lot of health education activities in the campus.

The Independent Learning Centre (ILC)

Learning a language can be great fun with multimedia aids and interesting self-learning materials. ILC instructors provide guidance to help you improve your learning. You are welcome to join the FREE daily workshops and consultation at ILC at 1/F Wu Chung Multimedia Library, United College.

IT Services

The Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) provides students with state-of-art fundamental computer facilities and a variety of services. As the one-stop University portal, MyCUHK allows students to access campus news, Chinese University Student Information System (CUSIS) and a wide range of online services such as CUHK Webmail and e-learning platform.

Apart from using computers in Computer User Areas located on the 1/F of Pi Ch’iu Building (open 24-hour) and on 6/F Wu Ho Man Yuen Building, students can also access the campus network (through wired or wireless connections) on campus using their own computers. Moreover, by simply registering for an account in the CUHK Wi-Fi Hotspot Partnership Programme, students can have a free Wi-Fi Internet access at all the off-campus hotspots operated by PCCW, Y5ZONE and eduroam.

In the beginning of semester, students can purchase notebooks and related accessories at a substantial discount. ITSC also provides students with network security solutions such as spam filtering services, free use of anti-virus software, etc.
